When you have an enclosure, there won’t be any pesky bugs invading your pool area and it will be easier to maintain your pool since it prevents leaves and other debris from falling inside. But one downside is that there are frames blocking the view. Fortunately, we can convert existing pool cages into a picture window.

This week, we completed a picture window conversion project for a client in Fort Myers. Besides the conversion, Mr. Steenhoek also hired us to restore his pool enclosure. This is what his old pool cage looked like. To make it look brand new again, he availed our Value Restoration Package which includes re-screening, replacing the fasteners, and repainting the entire enclosure using different materials to lower the project cost. For the picture window, he got our Bronze Clearview Conversion, where we re-engineer a part of his front wall.

But before we started with the conversion process, we first had to prepare permits, engineering, and site plans. Because we’ve done a hundred of pool enclosure projects, we know how to efficiently get this process done and get permits faster than anyone else.

After settling the permits, we head on-site. We first covered the pool and deck with plastic to prevent getting debris or paint on it. Since we mostly prefabricate the frames in our shop, it didn’t take too long to re-engineer the front wall. This picture window has a span size of 24′ and we were able to convert it into a clear view by utilizing the existing vertical posts, which dramatically increases the structural integrity

We then continued with our restoration process. For the fasteners, we used 4000hr ceramic-coated steel and then repainted the entire structure with bronze Sherwin Williams DTM Tough Trim. Lastly, we installed Standard Phifer 18/14, which can withstand strong thunderstorm force winds for some time over 10 years. All screens are durable when it’s newly installed, but this mesh will only be easily tearable from a regular storm after 7 to 15 years.

Our efficient crew completed this project in less than one week. Mr. Steenhoek is glad that his pool cage looks brand new again, there are no more frames obstructing his view, and with his new deck and Gost drain to match.
