Summer is officially over, well, for the children. For most homeowners, they didn’t have the time to get their pool cages re-screened or restored because the kids were around or using the pool. For others, they constantly had outdoor parties and relatives or guests over.

But since it’s the first week of school, there would probably fewer parties and the kids would be gone for the day. Some of our clients finally have the time to get their pool cage restored or re-screened. Also, their enclosures need to be repaired since the summer weather isn’t over. The whole family would still want to swim or maybe even have a cookout during the weekends. No one wants insects when they’re having a barbecue party on a Saturday night or relaxing on a nice, sunny Sunday afternoon.

Aside from pool enclosures, we also replaced front entryways and installed a new structure. Here are some of the projects we worked on this week.

Pool Cage Restoration in Estero

For our first project this week, a client hired us to renovate his pool enclosure.

Our client, Ryan, was planning to upgrade his pool cage and chose us to do it after he saw pictures of our past pool cage restoration projects on Facebook. He wanted our Lifetime Restoration Package, where we will replace the current materials with screens, fasteners, and paint that are better and have a longer warranty.

Before we got to work, we first covered the pool and deck area with plastic so that debris and paint drops won’t fall in and on it. We removed the screen and then replaced all his fasteners with Nylo-tec, which is more durable and comes with a 10-year warranty. After, we applied bronze electrostatic paint. We then rescreened then entire pool enclosure with Superscreen 14/16 mesh.

It took us less than a week to complete this project. Now he can be assured that his pool enclosure is bug-free and sturdy for the rest of the summer.

Installing a Picnic Table Area for a Condominium in Florida

This week, we also completed a project in Estero.

Two years ago, Breckenridge Golf & Country Club asked for a quote on installing a covered picnic table area for their condominium. Since it was a multi-family property, there were unique approvals needed that could limit what we can build. So before we can provide a quote or an accurate and fair bid, we needed an engineered site plan and structural plans to assess the feasibility of both the zoning and cost.

They decided to hire an engineering firm for the plans. We were able to provide a bid after seeing the plan and they chose us to do this project. We immediately started on the Lee County permit process, which didn’t take long since we can get permits faster than the others. Once this project was approved, it was scheduled for this summer so that there would be less lifestyle interruption because the seasonal residents would be gone.

We finally got to work on this project. When we got on-site, we first dug 3’x3’x3′ holes, which are isolated footings at the end of each post. After setting the posts in them, we poured concrete. Next, we added another layer of 4″ slab reinforced with rebar for the foundation.

For the roof of this structure, we used a 3″ composite panel, which is a metal roof with a foam core. This roof can withstand impact, provide more insulation underneath, and is durable.

Two years after coming up with the idea for this carport-like structure, they finally have it on their property. When the residents come back, they will finally have a place to have a cookout or a spot outdoors to relax in.

Re-screening a Pool Enclosure in Fort Myers

This summer, our client’s screen gave away, so insects were able to invade his pool cage.

Our client, Ron, couldn’t enjoy lounging by his pool thanks to those pesky bugs. He hired us to replace some panels of his screen that were torn due to age. Check out the photo above, the screen tore right at the aluminum member. It’s common for old screens to get damaged from wind pressure or light impact since it becomes weak and brittle.

We replaced the damaged screens with Standard Phifer 18/14 mesh. Different types of screens are durable when it’s newly installed. This standard screen can withstand strong gusts of winds for at least 3 years, but it will easily tearable from a regular thunderstorm after 4 more years.

Picture Window Conversion and Pool Cage Restoration

For our first stop in Naples, a client wanted to upgrade their pool enclosure and convert it to maximize the view.

Our client, Karen, hired us for a pool cage restoration project and picture window conversion. She saw pictures of our completed projects on pool cages with picture window design and wanted to have it done on hers. She also opted for our Lifetime Restoration Package.

Restoration projects don’t need a permit, but picture window conversions do. So we first had to get a permit from Collier County. After completing more than a hundred pool enclosure projects, we know how to efficiently go through this process. Our clients never have to worry about the details and would only wait for a shorter time since we can get permits faster.

Once the project was approved, we got to work on-site. We first covered the pool with plastic and then removed the screens. Then we changed one side of their cage, removing the frames to maximize the view. We also replaced their rusty fasteners with Nylo-tec throughout the whole enclosure. After painting the frames with bronze electrostatic paint, we used Superscreen 14/16 mesh for the screening.

It took us less than a week to finish both projects. Isn’t it better without the beams? Now our client’s pool cage looks great, offers a better view, and still keeps the bugs away.

Quick Door Hardware Replacement in Naples

We got a service call from a client in Naples to replace some of their door hardware.

Our client Katy’s door swing arm was damaged, probably due to the corrosion of the thin metal components. Aside from fixing it, we also replaced the inner and outer handle, latch, and bug sweeps.

We finished this project in less than a day. Now our client can open their door without worrying if the handle will fall off. They also don’t need to manually close it anymore because a new swing arm is intact.

Installing a New Front Entryway for a Florida Homeowner

A client from Cape Coral wanted a new entryway for their home.

After our client, Robert, saw one of our simple and functional entryways online, he wanted to get the same one. He wanted his front entryway to have a clean look with no frills. Some people feel that custom designer doors and ornamental metal tend to detract the curb appeal of their home.

So we installed this simple frame and a Standard 36″x80″ door with 8″ kickplate. We screened his entire entryway with a Standard Phifer 18/14 mesh so that no bugs can enter his home. We finished this project in less than a day.
